Feasting at Karizma Dhaba with Friends
On a breezy Sunday evening, we decided to try out the new Karizma Dhaba in Kurla, Mumbai. It’s located across from Kalpana Cinema on LBS Marg and is getting a lot of attention from food lovers in Mumbai. The area around it is filled with about a dozen other food joints like Shalimar, Noor Muhammadi Hotel, Delhi Zaika, and, of course, Karizma Dhaba, which is part of the famous Karizma Dhaba & Family Garden Restaurant chain.
I went with my friends Abid, Ayaz, Jamal Ahmad, Jabir, Qasim, and Siraj. We were excited as we entered the dimly lit, rustic-themed restaurant, feeling a bit nostalgic about the traditional Dhabas from the past.
Qasim, our food expert, led the way with excitement in his eyes. Ayaz, always optimistic, couldn’t stop talking about his previous experiences of delicious foods from other restaurants. Jamal, from Kanpur, observed everything quietly, already imagining the flavours. Jabir, the brainy foodie of the group, was practically drooling. Abid from Dhule was busy categorizing the foods, while Siraj seemed ready to capture every moment and dish.
The menu had a lot of tempting options, but we decided to go big and ordered a platter meant for 8 to 9 people. It was a feast for the eyes and taste buds, starting with a starter pack featuring more than five chicken and fish items. The starter pack came with a twist – fried Chana (gram) and garlic, served with crispy papad and salad.
Moving on to the main course, we enjoyed soft and flaky Butter Naan, rice with dry fruits, and flavourful mutton and chicken curries. And to top it off, we had Rabri for dessert. It was a perfect ending to our delightful journey, and surprisingly, the cost was very reasonable.
The ambience was warm and inviting, and the seating arrangement was comfortable and conducive to conversation. Family cabins provide a private setting for those seeking intimate gatherings. It is suitable for both small dinners and family gatherings. On weekends, it was busy, but the staff efficiently managed the crowd, and we only had to wait for about 15 minutes. The dhaba staff was attentive and efficient. They even arranged parking for our car, freeing us from the worries of Mumbai’s chaotic traffic. As we said goodbye to Karizma Dhaba, our hearts and stomachs were full.
