Story of Friendship and Flavours

Hello guys, today I would like to share with you a story of friendship and flavours. We are a group of five friends living in Vikhroli, Mumbai. We share a strong bond and always lend a helping hand to each other in times of happiness and sorrow. We deeply care about one another. Recently, a new member named “Tabaqi (Pseudonym)” joined our group.

Tabaqi the Jackal Joins the Group

Tabaqui was introduced to the group by one of our friends, Sher Khan (Pseudonym). Although he lives about 350 kilometres away from us, he frequently visits Mumbai for work and has become friends with our group. In a plot reminiscent of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book, where Mowgli ends up among wolves, Tabaqi the Jackal, lands amidst humans. Despite the distance, Tabaqui seamlessly became one of us. He always enjoys spending time with us. That was until a day when a disagreement flared up.

Tabaqi Hurts the Kind-hearted Soul

Tabaqi remained Tabaqi. One day he showed his mettle. He made a mistake. He got into a heated argument with one of our group members and hurt his feelings. The friend was very generous and helpful to Tabaqi. This kind-hearted soul had assisted him in his business and given him expensive gifts on several occasions. But after the fight, he stopped talking to Tabaqi.

The fallout was particularly challenging for Tabaqi. Tabaqi regretted his actions and wanted to make up with the friend. Tabaqi tried to persuade us to help him reconcile. We agreed to try, but it was not easy. The friend was very sensitive and stubborn and refused to accept Tabaqi’s apologies. Tabaqi was desperate. He knew he had not only lost a good friend but lost a lot of benefits also. Tabaqi wanted to restore the friendship at any cost. He was ready to go to any extent to restore the broken relationship.

Dinner Party to Mend the Broken Friendship

Months passed, but the situation did not improve. Tabaqi decided to make one last attempt. He invited all of us to a dinner party and hoped to mend the broken friendship. He begged us to bring the angry friend along. We agreed to do our best, but we were unsure if it would work. Tabaqi was nervous and anxious. He wondered if he could ever win back the angry friend’s affection. We fulfilled the duty of friendship and somehow convinced the angry friends to join us on a culinary journey.

Our Destination: Shalimar Restaurant Kurla

With excitement in the air, we set out from Vikhroli to Kurla, the anticipation of delicious delights overriding any lingering negativity. Our destination? The renowned Shalimar Restaurant Kurla is a place known for its culinary wonders. As we settled into our seats, the aroma of spices and sizzling delights filled the air, instantly lifting our spirits.

The Menu-Nawabi Platter

The menu was extensive at Shalimar Restaurant Kurla, but our eyes were drawn to the Nawabi Platter – a tempting assortment that promised to be a feast fit for royalty. The platter arrived, adorned with an array of starters that included succulent Chicken Satte, flavourful mutton seekh, and tantalizing tandoori chicken kebabs. The sizzle and crackle from the tandoor heightened our anticipation for the culinary journey that lay ahead. In the main course, we were treated to a variety that showcased the essence of Mughlai cuisine. Tandoori roti, rich and aromatic Mutton gravy, creamy chicken korma, savoury mutton tawa rice, and fragrant chicken pulao adorned our table, creating a colourful tapestry of flavours.

Customised Menu Vs Readymade Menu

While the food was not bad, it fell short of the quality, Shalimar Restaurant Kurla and its principal are known for. Lessons were learned – perhaps a customized menu tailored to our preferences would have been a better choice than the all-encompassing platter. As the last bites were savoured, we decided to end our culinary sojourn on a sweet note. Enter the Falooda – a delightful dessert that promises to be the perfect finale for our gastronomic adventure.

Joy Replaced Tension

As we indulged in the sweet, cool concoction, the air was filled with laughter and camaraderie.
